These artworks all feature stars, the colour cadmium yellow of my brand, and a little vermillion red heart. Self-indulgently developed over the period of 2010-2011, these mixed media pieces incorporate small objects collected anywhere and gathered at home throughout the previous years, each encapsulating a particular autobiographical memory in time and space, and later collated on the paintings together with paint and resin.Like a magpie, I had picked them here and there, attracted by their aesthetic qualities and significances in how they embodied a moment of my life. The Stars Series was also a way to play and have fun after the trauma of an operation, and gave great pleasure to viewers, adult and children alike, at my two subsequent Open Studios in 2011 and 2012.
