JOYCE'S ART   paintings' online catalogue 2024

My friend Eric Dubbs, with whom I shared a cafe gallery show near Goldsmiths College during Deptford Arts Week and a Liverpool Street "Alternative Arts Market" week-end show in the mid-90s, passed away as I engaged on the painting of this corner of the mural.
These two crushed cars symbolize a mixed race couple, and death.

Eric had been a successful musician, first on "Top of the Pops" with the band "The Foundations" and the single "Build me up Buttercup", in the seventies.
During the later part of his life, he had turned his creativity to painting in abstract geometrical colourful canvasses of a symbolic nature, and in almost invariably symmetrical compositions that talked of a poetic almost mathematical world of perception.

These foreground cars are a tribute to his talents.
